GLOBETROTTERS HOSTEL DUBLIN
Just thought I would post this after a week stay at Globtrotters Hostel run by the same staff of Town House Of Dublin. The place was nice and clean and you do get full Irish Breakfast BUT the service is shocking!!!!!!
My girlfriend asked to change to a bottom bunk and was made to feel like an idiot for asking such a stupid question (No they did not and under no circumstances would not move her).
I miss placed a piece of paper with the hostel stamp and dorm room lock code on it (you show when you enter through security locked front door with a camera watching it and then the lock code lets you in the dorm room) and was made to feel like it was the end of the world. They treated me like child rather than a paying customer and they said it was first time this had ever happened (I find that hard to believe). I was then told later that I would not get another and would have to show ID and get my booking checked every time I wanted to get in. A bit of a hassle when you and 2 other people have paid in full for the next 5 days.
I know it was silly to lose this piece of paper but was told at check-in, in the event that this did happen to report it straight away (which I did) so they can then change the code for the room door. I was then told that if anything goes missing in the dorm then I'll the held responsible. This I felt was a joke as an American girl from a different room had gear stolen the day before.
We returned later that day to find that my girlfriend and mine beds (In a dorm of 10) were the only beds not to be made up by the staff and that someone had gone through all out clothes. Nothing missing which got us wondering if it was a message from the staff.
On checking out we handed back our safe deposit key to get our 5 Euro back and was told to produce the receipt we were given at issue. When we could not find it they then went on to lecture us that we were told at check-in to hang onto it (I can assure you we were not told this) or no money given back. After searching my pack I found want they wanted. No dramas but on reading their own fine print it says nothing of holding receipt for return of deposit but does state that you only have to hand the Key back.
Now if you are like us and are traveling the world and enjoy meeting new people in new locations, keep doing it! Life is to short to for d!ck heads like them.
